BOARD APPROVES EXPANDED TUITION WAIVER FOR UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS EDWARDS CAMPUS STUDENTS FROM THE KANSAS CITY METRO AREA

(TOPEKA) – Yesterday, the Kansas Board of Regents approved an expanded tuition waiver package for graduate and undergraduate students from 11 Missouri counties in the Kansas City Metro area.

The tuition waiver, currently available to students from four Missouri counties provides reduced tuition rates for degree-seeking graduate and undergraduate students, with a limit of six credit hours. The approved changes will:

• Expand the total number of eligible Missouri counties to eleven: Bates, Buchanan, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Henry, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Platte, and Ray;
• Allow non-degree seeking students to participate in the waiver program;
• Eliminate the credit hour limit; and
• Set tuition for waiver participants to resident rates.

KU’s MetroKC Tuition Waiver is one of many programs available to students interested in pursuing higher education goals at state universities in Kansas.”

The nine-member Kansas Board of Regents, founded in 1925 and established in the Kansas Constitution, is the governing board of the six state universities and the statewide coordinating board for the state’s 32 public higher education institutions (six state universities, one municipal university, 19 community colleges, and six technical colleges).
