The federal government created the Improving Teacher Quality State Grants program to ensure teachers are highly qualified to teach. Highly qualified teachers increase the academic achievement of students and school districts.
The Kansas Board of Regents awards Improving Teacher Quality subgrants to local, high-need educational agencies and a Kansas college or university to offer innovative professional development activities to improve the skills of teachers, paraprofessionals, and principals.
The Kansas Board of Regents is issuing a call for proposals for approximately $180,000 federal funds through the No Child Left Behind Act Improving Teacher Quality State grant. These funds will be allocated to Kansas higher education institutions by means of a competitive proposal submission process. Proposals are due February 15, 2012, with funding notification by March 1, 2012.
